In early March, I got selected as an operation intern at BlueHub Capital, a mission-driven community development financial institution (CDFI) working to build healthy communities where low-income people live and work, based in Boston, M.A. Even though it is a remote job, BlueHub offered me the opportunity to visit the company and explore Boston for a week. Through this fellowship, I, along with seven other students from Gettysburg College get opportunities to learn and gain a deeper understanding of important U.S. national policy topics and social issues through weekly seminars and field visits. ![]() | I can’t believe I’ve just finished my second year at Syracuse University. So much has happened so quickly. I am now a summer program assistant for the SummerStart program and my residents feed my denial of how long I’ve been at Syracuse. They think I’m one of the freshmen, and I haven’t ultimately come to terms with being a junior. Perhaps I feel old or want more years at Syracuse because I’ve enjoyed it so much. August 6th, 2021 was an unforgettable moment in my life. It was my first time leaving Cambodia. I couldn't believe that I was leaving until I heard the sound of the plane taking off. It seems like just yesterday when I said goodbye to my parents and sisters at the airport. Traveling during the Covid-19 pandemic made me emotionally and physically overwhelmed, but luckily I had two other SHE-CAN scholars, Sokvy and Wuthikah, who accompanied me along the way to the U.S. |
