What Jocelyn is Thankful For

I am thankful for my friends here at Lafayette. They look out for me and want to make me happy. They are always there when I need them most. I did not think I would find a really caring and fun group of friends my first semester but I was proven wrong in my first month here. We were still half-strangers when they threw a birthday party for me. Then and there, I knew I was not alone in this vast new land. I am grateful for them and so privileged to have them.

I am also grateful for my mentors, Team Shorty. I remember when I was so torn about withdrawing from my calculus class and I did not know what to do. As soon as I told them, they sent me messages of encouragement and started calling, one after another! Sharing their college experiences made me believe that withdrawing from the class is not failing. We did a pro-con list amd we were all in it together. I loved the fact that they took time from their busy schedules in the middle of the week to talk and text and share their wisdom. I am grateful for them also because they make it possible that every break and holiday, I don’t stay on campus while everyone goes home to relax. I went to New York for fall break, I am going to Philadelphia for Thanksgiving and San Francisco for winter break and Christmas, all made possible because of how caring and loving thet are. I am grateful because I made great friends out of them, and I rush to text or call when something happens to share the good or unpleasant news. I know I have got family in them.
