In December, I had an amazing trip home to Rwanda to spend time with my family. The highlight of my trip was that I finalized plans for my wedding that will take place late this year. We booked our ceremony and reception venues, which was very exciting! Although I was there only for a short time, I also enjoyed catching up some friends of mine. When it was time to come back to Berkeley, I was refreshed and ready to start the final semester of my masters!

I have been incredibly busy since returning to Berkeley in mid-January. As you can imagine, it is no easy task juggling my graduate classes and my work at the San Francisco County Transportation Authority. Despite the hard work, I feel so lucky and happy for the opportunity that I have had to blend my studies at Cal with the technical skills I am learning from the SFCTA.

This February, I will be busy with school and work, but I will also be attending and speaking at a couple of events. I will be speaking about the subject of resilience at an event organized by my scholarship program—the University of California, Berkeley’s MasterCard Foundation Scholars. On February 4th, I went to the Parlay House event where I also spoke about resilience. Additionally, last Sunday, I spoke at the International House’s Sunday Supper, one of the House’s most enduring traditions that brought together 250+ people.

Between planning my wedding, my graduate courses, my work with the SFCTA, and my speaking engagements, I have been on an amazing ride and I am so excited about all the opportunities that are yet to come!
