Barbara’s passion is deeply rooted in women’s leadership, advocacy, and empowerment. As the CEO and founder of SHE-CAN (Supporting Her Education Changes A Nation), she is dedicated to helping young female leaders worldwide gain access to higher education and professional networks in the U.S., empowering them to drive social, economic, and political change in their home countries. Since founding SHE-CAN in 2011, Barbara has been the driving force behind the organization’s growth, focusing on strategic planning, fundraising, and communication. Before SHE-CAN, Barbara spent 15 years running her own market research consultancy, Outlaw Consulting, where she provided companies like Levi Strauss & Co., Nike, and Nordstrom with insights that shaped their product design, advertising, and marketing strategies. Her career began at major advertising firms, including Leo Burnett, Foote, Cone & Belding, and Chiat Day. Barbara holds degrees from Florida State and Michigan State and is a proud member of the International Women’s Forum (IWF), where she was honored with the Women Who Make a Difference Award in 2024. When she’s not in the office, you can often find Barbara on the ski slopes!
