SHE-CAN Scholar: Omu Sow

Omu comes from a small family of six and is the youngest of four children. She graduated in 2022 from Muslim Congress High School in Monrovia, earning both her high school diploma and the West African Senior School Certificate (WASSCE). While in school, she served as Student Council President and represented her school in academic debates, UNICEF’s World Children’s Day, and national events such as delivering a presidential speech on Decoration Day. Omu has actively participated in leadership and empowerment programs, including the GO-GIRLS LEAD mentorship, the Yali program in Ghana, and Model United Nations conferences both locally and internationally, where her team was awarded Best Diplomat in the UAE.

She currently volunteers as an administrator for the International Online Model United Nations Liberia and serves as Chapter Leader for her alma mater. Passionate about gender equity in STEM, Omu is determined to pursue a career in civil engineering and increase female representation in the field, empowering girls struggling with low self-esteem by serving as a role model.
