My name is Myra L. Wamah, and I am a student at Muhlenberg College, graduating in 2025 with a degree in public health on the pre-health track. My academic and professional interests center on women’s health, infectious and chronic diseases, and the environmental determinants of health.
I have research experience in infectious diseases, particularly Hepatitis B, and led a Hepatitis B awareness and screening campaign for women of childbearing age in Gbarnga City and Garmue Village, Bong County, Liberia. Additionally, I have interned with the Peer Health Advocate Organization and the Muhlenberg Food Cabinet, where I promoted healthy living and eating habits among students.
My coursework includes Environmental Health, Epidemiology, Global Health, Data Analytics, Comparative Anatomy, and the Biology of Cancer, among others. Beyond academics, I have taken leadership roles in several on-campus organizations. As part of Peer Health Advocates Muhlenberg (PHAM), I organized health programs such as vaccination and STI awareness clinics. I am also an active member of the African Students Organization (ASO), which fosters a supportive community for African students, and Veggie Friends, which advocates for plant-based dining options on campus. Additionally, I participate in Disciples Makers Fellowship (DCF), creating spaces for students to strengthen their relationships with Jesus.
Through these experiences, I aim to continue contributing to health equity and community wellness on a global scale.
