SHE-CAN Scholar: Maria de los Angeles Martínez

Maria and her brother were primarily raised by their grandmother while their mother worked. Excelling in both English and science, Maria won medals in the Science Olympiads, earned recognition in spelling contests, and qualified for the University of San Carlos de Guatemala National Science Finals. Inspired by the lack of accessible mental health resources in Guatemala, especially for vulnerable populations, Maria is passionate about advocating for mental health education within the public school system.
