Annelise is a passionate advocate for education and women’s leadership, recognizing their pivotal roles in driving positive change in today’s world. With a diverse background spanning law, education, and nonprofit leadership, Annelise brings a wealth of experience to her role at SHE-CAN.
Born on the Navajo Reservation in Gallup, New Mexico where her father served in the Indian Public Health Service, Annelise grew up surrounded by a deep sense of community and service. After a short stint in Aksehir Turkey, Annelise went to college at Princeton University, where she earned degrees in sociology and education. Following her passion for law, immediately after Princeton, Annelise continued her education at Boston University School of Law.
Annelise’s professional journey reflects her commitment to making a difference. While working and raising a family, she volunteered in every role in schools, putting her education degree to work. Annelise was elected to serve ten years on the Ross Valley Public School Board. She is currently serving as Board Chair at The Bay School of San Francisco, as Board Chair of Children for Change, and is active on the Leadership Council of RiseUp. Prior to her time at SHE-CAN, Annelise worked as a non-profit founder and executive director. An avid traveler and lifelong learner, Annelise finds incredible joy in travel (particularly with her three children in college), cooking, eating, reading, playing soccer, and spending time with her family. Annelise’s dedication to education and her diverse background make her a valuable asset to the SHE-CAN team.
