Vuochnear Ly graduated from Gettysburg College with a degree in International Relations & Political Science. Vuochnear is currently an Academic Affairs Manager at the American University of Phnom Penh. After graduation, Vuochnear interned at Halifax in Washington, DC. Her long term goal is to become a diplomat and reduce poverty in her country through better education and improved living standards. She also hopes to work on eliminating gender inequality through encouraging female leadership.
At Gettysburg, Vuochnear was a Student Assistant at the Centre for Global Education and an English tutor at the Center for Public Service. During her spring 2019 semester, Vuochnear participated in an exchange program at American University, where she studied foreign policy. In the summer of 2018, she completed a monitoring and evaluation internship at Vital Voices in Washington, DC, where she developed a logic model and M&E plan for their Virtual Mentoring Program. In January 2018, Vuochnear interned at the SHE-CAN office, compiling and analyzing data on 14 post-conflict nations, and making program and policy recommendations for the staff. In 2017, she completed an impressive internship working directly for the Minister of Gender, Her Excellency Dr. Phavi, at the Ministry of Women’s Affairs in Cambodia. She assisted the Minister with external communications to international and national actors.
Before she joined SHE-CAN and came to the U.S., Vuochnear participated in several organizations with the goal of strengthening youth coordination to better Cambodia.
