SHE-CAN Scholar: Sharon Batamuriza

Sharon Batamuriza graduated from Bennington College with a degree in Political Economics, Conflict Resolution and Public Action with an emphasis on the Role and Responsibility of Women in Conflict. Sharon is currently working for Bridge for Billions as a Senior Program Manager at the HealthTech Hub Africa.

Previously, she was the Director of Implementation – New Business, at Kountable in Rwanda. Sharon started working with Kountable in 2016, and after she completed her year of Optional Practical Training in their San Francisco office, she moved to Rwanda as their Senior Trade Director. She also completed an internship with the 11th Hour Project in San Francisco.

At Bennington, Sharon was the co-founder of Bennington Connect, a student organization dedicated to bringing international and domestic students together. She was also a Sexual Harassment Advisor for students on campus and served on the Student Education Policies Committee for the Center of Advanced Public Action.

Back in Rwanda, Sharon lost her parents when she was 5 years old, and managed to push through the ups and downs gracefully and tirelessly. Sharon helped lead the Ubushobozi Sewing Project after attending Groupe Scolaire Apred Ndera High School.
