SHE-CAN Scholar: Peninah Ingabire

Peninah Ingabire graduated from Muhlenberg College with a degree in Public Health & International Studies. After graduation, Peninah worked in Philadelphia as a Program Coordinator at Mitzvah Circle, a non-profit organization serving underprivileged individuals and families facing crisis. In 2021, Peninah received a Master of Science in Global Health Policy from the University of Edinburgh, Scotland, as a MasterCard Foundation scholar. Now, Peninah is currently working as a Development Manager — BAME Communities at Waverley Care.

At Muhlenberg, Peninah held different leadership roles, including the Residence Hall Director and Resident Advisor positions. She was also involved in multiple organizations on campus, such as the Peer Health Advocates program, the Muhlenberg Pediatric Cancer Club, the African Student Organization, and the Tour Guide program. During the summer of 2018, Peninah worked as a public health intern at the Health Development Initiative in Rwanda. The summer before that, she interned at the Rwanda Biomedical Center, which is the implementing branch of the Rwandan Ministry of Health. She worked within their Maternal, Child, and Community Health division.

Peninah’s goal is to reduce inequalities and ensure healthcare access for vulnerable communities in Rwanda.
