SHE-CAN Scholar: Love Soun

Love Soun graduated with two degrees in Strategic Communication and Fine Art from the University of Minnesota. After graduation, Love worked as the Senior Media and Communications Officer at CARE Cambodia, an international development organization committed to pulling Cambodians out of poverty. She is now a Communications Officer at Winrock International, an organization that integrates solutions to respond to social and environmental issues. Love uses her education and visual storytelling to raise awareness about issues affecting underrepresented communities in Cambodia.

In 2019, Love was hired as a Communication and Outreach intern at both the Family Medicine and Community Health Department and the Academic Success Center at the University of Minnesota. Love played a crucial role in developing and generating social media planning, visual storytelling and multimedia production. She also was a key member of the Advertising Club. Love served as a mentor of the International Buddy Program, and as a student leader for international inclusion events on campus. She’s committed to advocate for inclusivity and diversity, striving to ensure that resources on campus are tailored to serve the international community.

Prior to pursuing her undergraduate studies in the United States, she received a full scholarship to study Tourism Management from the Royal University of Phnom Penh. She was also awarded the Jawaid and Helen Elahi Legacy Fund Scholarship. Love was also a member of the University of Minnesota chapter of the Society of Professional Journalists.
