SHE-CAN Scholar: Juaníta María Ramírez Quic

Juaníta, a proud indigenous Guatemalan, was raised by her father and mother alongside her three brothers. Although she graduated from high school in 2021, pursuing college proved economically unfeasible, which led her to explore opportunities such as working as a barista, a translator, and a teaching assistant. Juaníta also actively engages in community outreach, particularly in supporting marginalized individuals, a practice ingrained in her since childhood when she would accompany her mother on visits to help bedridden adults. Juaníta aims to establish an organization that builds her community’s capacity to improve education and health outcomes.
