SHE-CAN Scholar: Josine Mutuyimana

Josine Mutuyimana graduated from Michigan State University with a degree in Food Science. After graduation, she worked as a Chemist and Data Analyst for Abbott Nutrition. In May 2023, Josine graduated from North Carolina State University with a master’s degree in Business Administration (MBA). Now, she is a Supply Chain Analyst at Analog Devices. Josine’s dream is to reduce the number of children who die in Rwanda due to poorly maintained healthcare facilities.

During her time at Michigan State, Josine was a summer intern with Quality Assurance for the Rwandan Standard Board and interned with the Project Management team at Neogen in Michigan.

Josine was born in a refugee camp in the Democratic Republic of Congo, where her family lived during Rwanda’s instability of the 1990s. After the 1994 genocide and the loss of her family, Josine returned to Rwanda where she started primary school. She was the first girl in her district to accomplish the feat of passing the secondary level National Exam. This accomplishment led her to receive a scholarship to go to the best high school in Rwanda, the Gashora Girls Academy. At Gashora, she was involved in the community service club where she discovered her passion for improving communities and helping people. She also served as a peer mentor for many of her classmates during the holidays.
