Irene Mugeni graduated from Gettysburg College with a degree in Economics and a minor in Business. Irene now works for Schmidt Market Research as an Associate Market Research Analyst in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
At Gettysburg, Irene served as a Leadership Mentor for the Garthwait Leadership Center, a hub for leadership development at Gettysburg College. She also interned at the Rwandan Ministry of Finance and Economic Planning and participated in a job shadowing at TD bank in New Jersey. Irene has also worked on a project with WorldWideWomen to create a database supporting their marketing strategy.
Before joining SHE-CAN, Irene graduated from Cornerstone Leadership Academy with a nearly perfect score on her National Exam. Irene’s extracurricular activities were inspired by the difficulties that she sees women and children facing every day. She served as a coordinator for Golden Gates for Africa, an organization that utilizes theater to spread constructive messages to youth. Irene was also a member of Builders of Hope in Africa, where she assisted poor children and families in acquiring school materials. She also led a project in Rwanda called “The Power of Tomorrow” where she used educational tools to encourage children living on the street to go back to school.
