SHE-CAN Scholar: Divinna Boyd

A. Divinna Boyd attends Georgetown University. Divinna grew up in Monrovia with her parents and her 2 siblings. At the age of 16, while living in a community with high teenage pregnancy and domestic violence rates, Divinna began hosting the “Girls Let’s Talk Show” radio program. The program addressed the issues that local women and girls were facing. Divinna has also worked with several organizations to promote women’s rights. She is a part of the Liberian chapters of both the Girls Get Equal Campaign and the 1000 Girls Campaign by the United Nations Fund for Population Activities (UNFPA).

Divinna’s passion for advocacy, women’s rights, and leadership earned her the opportunity to serve as Liberian ambassador to the 2019 African Presidential Leadership Program held in Cairo, Egypt. She was also awarded a Certificate of Honour by Plan International for her contribution in promoting women’s rights during the 2021 International Women’s Day celebration.

Divinna aspires to become a health policy maker in order to end health disparities and specifically  promote women’s rights to health in Liberia.
