OAD Scholars Give Thanks

In honor of Thanksgiving, some of our OAD scholars shared what they are thankful for this year. We are so thankful for them and all of our scholars, as well as our amazing OAD family far and wide!

Bonnette: This year, I am grateful to be going to such an amazing school, and I wouldn’t have made it if wasn’t for Jenny, my mentor, and Open A Door in general. I am also grateful for all the amazing people that have crossed my path, because I learned a lot from them and shared wonderful thoughts and experiences. Overall, I am grateful for my very loving and supporting family and friends and also thankful for happiness, a healthy body and life.

Patricie: I am thankful for the opportunities I have had in life. I’ve surely worked hard for them, but I think I am also just lucky! I am thankful for the day I met Barbara in Kigali, and for everything that has happened to date: from meeting my wonderful mentors and other amazing people, to being a student at Cal, to working at the SF County Transportation Authority! I am also grateful that my first month of work at SFCTA has been great so far. It hasn’t been so easy juggling school and work, nevertheless I am deeply grateful for this learning and growth opportunity. Last but not least, I am thankful for the people in my life that make my life so enjoyable, most especially my husband-to-be Kabasha and many other friends of mine!
