University of Minnesota, Twin Cities, is the first and only state-funded university to have signed on with the SHE-CAN Coalition thanks to a Minnesota donor who helped with funding that also provided top-level housing and living expenses. The large campus and diverse melting pot of cultures in the Minneapolis/St. Paul area helps our scholars find their own little slice of Cambodia and Guatemala in their new home. They are able to shop for familiar foods and meet many other international students and community members every day. This is a huge relief for young women who have traveled from other countries.

The addition of the University of Minnesota to the SHE-CAN Coalition was precisely what we needed. Their breadth of academic curriculum and emphasis on research allow students who are interested in fields like journalism and agriculture to specialize in their passion. They also have been able to take multiple scholars in one year, allowing cohorts of SHE-CAN scholars to start their college experiences together.
