Students and faculty throughout all three of Lewis & Clark’s schools — the College of Arts and Sciences, the Graduate School of Education and Counseling, and the Law School — pursue new ways of knowing by combining classic liberal learning with pioneering collaboration.
Lewis and Clark students represent the next generation of global thinkers and leaders, unafraid to discard conventional thinking, civic complacency, and outmoded preconceptions. Yet they value what Lewis & Clark offers: an education built from the time-tested elements of careful study, original research, and spirited debate.
The Lewis & Clark community welcomes and supports international students from over 70 countries. These students play an important and integral role at Lewis & Clark. Their opinions challenge the assumptions and beliefs expressed by U.S. students and faculty members in the classroom. Their lifestyles bring cultural diversity and new ways of doing things to campus life. Their presence provides opportunities for the community to look beyond its borders. Lewis and Clark is a community that cultivates leadership and engagement in a complex and interdependent world. Lewis and Clark shares both values and vision with SHE-CAN, so a partnership was a practical and constructive way to put what they believe into action.
We first partnered with Lewis and Clark college for the 2017 school year. As Pioneers, our SHE-CAN scholars quickly learn that intellectual pursuit is at the heart of Lewis & Clark’s liberal arts and sciences education. The college’s expansive yet personal curriculum gives students countless lenses through which to examine ideas and bring their worldview into focus.
Lewis & Clark understands the value of having an international focus and a diverse community. About 15% of all undergraduates, representing some 74 countries, are from locations outside the U.S. With the drive to create a community that becomes home to its students, Lewis & Clark is a college where our scholars can find their passions and become fearless change-makers.
